- I almost waited too long to complete my thesis for the Master's
Degree. Time was running out, but Dr. McBride, my thesis director,
allowed me to take an additional graduate readings class and finish my
thesis to be eligible for graduation. Attached is a letter from
him concerning the Readings Class. From September of 1978
through April 1979 it was a busy time for me. While working a
full time teaching job, reading books and writing reports, and writing
my thesis, I was very busy. In April, I flew back to Texas and
participated in a two hour oral exam from three professors. Only
the first question caused me to be surprised--Dr. Mathis asked, "Is
Jerry Brown shacking up with Linda Ronstadt?" I knew Governor
Brown and Linda Ronstadt were traveling together in Africa, at the time,
but didn't have a compete answer to his question. He broke the ice
of my being nervous, and after that all was great!! Letter
