The Revel Store was named after the founder of the community after the Civil War. The store was built in 1907 but I'm not sure when it was demolished. Below are some pictures that I took of the store on different occasions as I visited the area. As you can see from the history the area is named after J. W. Revel who originally came from North Carolina. I think this is why the Stephenson brothers and cousins settled in Woodruff County, Arkansas--they knew someone there from home. My grandparents, Walter and Annie Stephenson, must have visited this store many times while living in the community, since their farm was only a couple miles away.
