86. Harry Bob Martin

"Bob was born on July 6, 1941 in Roswell, New Mexico to Harry and Bessie Lee Martin. Bob has one younger sister and brother, Melinda Barnes of Snyder, Texas and Mike of Spur, Texas.

Bob attended Dickens public schools until 1955 before moving to Hamlin, Texas. He graduated from Hamlin High School in May of 1959 and entered Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College in the fall of that year.

On September 3, 1961, Bob married Mary Lena Williams at the East Highway Church of Christ. We were the first couple to be married in the new church building.

I am a native of Dickens County, born on February 5, 1942 to Leroy and Lois Williams wo lived 1 1/2 miles south of Spur. Leroy (deceased) was from Twin Wells Community and Lois Grantham (deceased) was from Red Hill Community. I have one older sister and brother, Doris Gregory of Levelland, Texas and Laster Williams of Lubbock, Texas.

After I graduated from Spur High School in 1960 and a year of work in Lubbock, Texas, Bob and I married and moved to College Station, Texas. Bob graduated from Texas A&M in August of 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics.

In the fall of 1963 we moved to Hale Center, Texas where bob was employed by the Farmers Coop Gin and Elevator as bookkeeper. Our first child, Elizabeth Carol was born on January 30, 1964. In April Bob got a job at Farmers Coop Gin and elevator at Littlefield as bookkeeper. Another daughter, Cassey Leanne, was born on January 13, 1966.

In February, 1966 we moved to Farwell, Texas where Bob was Plant Superintendent for Tide Chemical Company. Our son Matthew Clint was born on April 2, 1969.

In June 1970, we moved to Canyon, Texas where bob had a short tour of duty at Palo Duro Canyon State paqrk as Assistant Park Superintendent. In October 1970, we moved to Quanah, Texas. Bob assumed duties at a newly acquired state park.

Fifteen years later we are still at Copper Breaks State Park where Bob is Park Superintendent and a Certified Law Enforcement Officer. Bob also holds the office of president of the Texas State park Peace Officers Association. In November of 1985, I will have completed ten years of employment with West Texas Utilities Company as Cashier Bookkeeper.

Our children, Elizabeth Carol, a senior at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas; Casey Leanne, second year at Amarillo College, Amarillo, Texas and Mathew Clint, a junior at Quanah High School are the highlights in our lives.

We are members of the Church of Christ, 7th and Main in Quanah, Texas.

Being a close family, we have shared lots of happy times with life on the park, friends, school activities, community projects, church and jobs, in Quanah, Texas, our ome away from "Home".
