Ed, thank you for very much for the Stephenson information you sent me. You don’t know how much it means to me to receive validation of much of the information that I do have. Most of the information that I have, of course, is on the Arkansas Stephenson’s and on down to my generation. And most of that information has been told to me by family members. Only in the last few years have I begun to verify the info and most of that has been done by internet research through census documents and some Civil War records.
Your well researched information has provided me with validation that what I’ve done so far is accurate. Even though I’ve being doing my research for the last few years (slowly), I’m still in the beginning stages because I lack real documentation.
And yes, I know Jeannie Stinson. Her father and my father were first cousins. I remember her father visiting on several occasions and maybe I met Jeannie in those early years, but not sure. Any way, I will be meeting her this summer when I travel to Texas.
And yes, I’m familiar with the name Gilbert T. Stephenson from Northampton County. Back in the 1960s he sent my aunt a copy of his book, We Came Home to Warren Place. I’ve had the opportunity to read the book with a great deal of interest.
I’ve looked at Bill Robbins’ web site with a great deal of interest but have not really had time to do it justice. But in your last message you said: “Bill’s web page shows a picture of our my great grandfather’s home.” Can you tell me which Stephenson you are referring to?
You mentioned a book, “Footprints in Northampton”, that you might be able to locate for me. I’d love to be able to read the book. I’d buy it, borrow it, even beg for it, so if you locate a copy of it please let me know.
Ed, I read your 13 pages on Benjamin Stephenson with interest and excitement. I’ve really known very little about the Northampton Stephenson’s and consequently was very excited to read what you provided. You provided me with much more information than what I had, and confirmed what I did have. However, I did find one date that was incorrect. On page 6 #3d. you have my grandfather, Samuel Walter Stephenson, as having died in 1941--that is incorrect. He was born on February 24, 1878 and died on January 23, 1953. On that same page in the Note by Jean Stephenson Stinson he is listed again with an incorrect death date. Samuel Charles Stephenson’s brother, Victor Wiggins Stephenson died on the date listed, January 6, 1941. That is probably where the error came from.
And on page 7, 3e you have listed Benjamin Stephenson (1845- Aft 1900). In my old family Bible from Samuel Charles Stephenson, I have Benjamin Thomas Stephenson as having died on January 19, 1918. Of course, I have no other verification of this date.
Ed, thanks again for your willingness to share information with me. I hope that you will continue to do so. With absolute certainty I’m willing to share all that I have. Thanks, again.
Jenk Stephenson
