Kolt Moreland talking about
his Grandpa – Jerry William Stephenson
My precious Pa went to be with Jesus on Thanksgiving Day.
I learned so much from him and I couldn’t even begin to describe
the kind of man he was, but I’ll try.
H was the kind of man who could sing ABBA to you in the kitchen at
4:30 am. He was the kind of
man who would drive you to the doctor’s office when you were sick (even
though you were 19 years old and should drive yourself).
He was the kind of man who would get on to you for not changing
the oil in your car…then go outside and change your oil.
He was the kind of man that said “when you finish school…” and
made big plans for your success. He
was the kind of man who made sure your scrubs for nursing school were
starched and creased even through you didn’t think that was very cool. Obviously, these are all
personal to me, but the most important thing he ever taught me was you CAN
choose. You can choose to
stay down or choose to get up. You
can choose to be nice, you can choose to work hard, you can choose to put
your family first and you can choose to follow Jesus.
Pa, I will always choose.
I promise.
