My dear Patty --

Many thanks for your email re the Koumjians -- I am happy to fill you in on details:

Alice worked for the City of Los Angeles in an administrative capacity for many years.  She quit that job and went to law school, but did not pass the bar exam so she never practiced law.  Instead, she looked after her father's investments and became the Treasurer of the Masis (Maw-sis) Armenian Protestant Congregational Church, located in Hollywood, I think.  She never married.  She and Grandma were great pals, going to all sorts of places together.  They both came together to the Phd Party  we gave for Jay in 1977 as well as John Essick's wedding.
I hope this answers some of your questions.

love always,

aunt peggy

Dear Aunt Peggy,

I found my copy of your book - never lost but just covered by other things... and reread about the Koumjian family.  Now I have more questions - SORRY!  So Grandma's mother and Aunty's mother were sisters.  So that means that Makeri's maiden name should have been Mitilian (sp?).  Shemarried at age 14.  Do we know anything about the rest of Great-grandm'as family?  Did she have other brothers and sisters?

I really enjoyed rereading the story of the Koumians.  I had known the name all my life and knew we were related, but not exactly how.  I think I went to the big house once when I was quite small.  I didn't know that Alice had a law degree.  She worked for the city of Los Angeles, didn't she?  I remember Rose a lot better than Alice, but of course Rose also lived longer.

Thank you for being the treasure that you are to us all!!!  We love you Aunt Peggy!

Love,

Patty
