Dad
No birthday cards, wishes, greetings, or messages can express how much love and respect I have for you Dad.
So I'll do the best I can.
As a child I knew the safest place was sitting on your shoulders. I remember when it was time to cross the parking lot, you stuck your pinky out to me and I latched on thinking nothing can hurt me now. You are the first man I adored, kissed, the first to love me for me, and nothing has changed that. You taught me to be honest, treat others with respect, always do what's right, and just be my goofy self. You dropped whatever you were doing the times I cried out for you or just needed your help. You shared your advice but pushed me to figure out things on my own.
How can I tell you how lucky I am you're my dad?
All I can say is thank you.
Thank you for all the smiles, laughs, pats on the back, hugs, the pranks you still play on me, and even the spankings.
As an adult I now look at you hoping to be at least half the person you are. Even the feeling of safety is still there when you reach for my hand.
I have so many great memories with you, Dad, and looking forward to many more.
Today we celebrate you.
Happy Birthday!
I love you,
Tessa
