Both Willis Jones and his brother, Alfred Jones practiced medicine. Willis attended Memphis Medical College. In 1861 he enlisted at Wayside in Hot Springs County and served in the Confederate Army. He served in Harrison's 4th AR Infantry and later in Hanson's, Proctor's and Burke's Company. His minister's credentials are dated November 17, 1867 in Hot Springs County. The family lived at various times in Montgomery, Clark and Hot Springs Counties, AR.
